The Coaching Process
Coaching is an empowering relationship designed to move people forward in being and doing more of who they truly are.
Your Jim Gahen Empowerment Supply Company coach will help you organize and select your initial goal, then discuss the blocks and stops with you. Together, you’ll clarify your vision and identify more goals.
There are two types of approaches The Jim Gahen Empowerment Supply Company utilizes:
Doing Coaching and Being Coaching.
Doing Coaching is goal-oriented and can help clients achieve concrete results. In other words, action leads to satisfaction.
Jim tells the story of Linda, a stockbroker:
Linda came to me after several years in the hectic and grueling profession of stockbroker. She thrived on the fast-paced environment, but also enjoyed the financial rewards the job offered. Now, she had her eyes set on buying herself a new Cayman Porsche. We talked about her goal and what she thought it would take to achieve it. We put an action plan in place, met every week to check her progress. Three months after our initial meeting, Linda wanted to take me to lunch to thank me, and even picked me up in her Porsche.
Being Coaching develops self-awareness and authenticity. This approach enables a client to grow into a new role, either personally or professionally. It’s about accepting who you as a person are becoming in the process of your life.
Jim explains:
Larry, a client of mine for several years, discussed a new challenge he was having during our weekly teleconference. Larry has been his own boss for more than five years and his business has grown to four employees. He now has a sense of entitlement since he’s the boss. Larry felt his employees should step up and do the work he was formerly doing so he could concentrate on growing the business. We identified some concrete goals he wanted to work on, but together we also saw that Larry needed to grow into his new role as a manager. I scheduled behavioral assessments with Larry and each staff member, provided several team sessions, and along the way we’d stop and review, check and correct. After a year of work, Larry has seen concrete results – improved profits, less turnover and a better work atmosphere. Larry now has a deeper understanding of who he is and has more confidence to continue building a solid foundation for his business and employees.
